ABOUT ME
Hi there, I'm kirsty I was born on the 4th of June in the year 2000, Scotland, and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in August 2011. On the day of my diagnosis I remember being extremely ill, my lips were blue, I was constantly throwing up and I was really, really thirsty. When I was told I had diabetes, I didn't think much of it as, 1) I wasn't aware of the condition and thought it would be treated with a few antibiotics or some other medication and 2) I was barely conscious. For months before my diagnosis, I had constant headaches and was always drinking litres of water a day. Since that day, I have learned a lot more about my diabetes but I have also been through a lot of troubles with it, including stopping my insulin injections and blood tests which resulted in me being placed in hospital on the day of my last Nat 5 exam and I got out the day before my 16th birthday. I started this blog as I want to help people who can relate to the struggles I have been through or anyone who just wants to talk about it (even if you are not diabetic and want to speak about a friend or family member). I also believe that speaking to other people will help me stay in control of my own diabetes.
Thanks, Kirsty x
